The Glasgow South Ship
Modeller's Society is ideally located in Queens Park on the South Side
of Glasgow. The Park itself is surrounded by two major roads (Pollokshaws
Road and Victoria Road leading to Langside Road) that serve the populations
of Shawlands, Auldhouse, Newlands, Thornliebank, and Giffnock as well as
those in Mount Florida, Battlefield, Cathcart and Castlemilk. This
means that the park has excellent car, bus
and rail links as well as superb
local amenities. Buses from the city centre to Pollokshaws Road and
Victoria Road leave every few minutes while the rail service from Central
Station stops at Queens Park station every 10 minutes on week days and
15 minutes on a Sunday. The pond and club house from the bus stop
on Pollokshaws Road is only a couple of minutes away and can be seen from
the road. The entrance at the Victoria Road end, although a greater
walking distance from the pond, is little more than 5 minutes away.
